Ria was performing an experiment by aligning two mirrors at an angle of 60 degree, Rohan performed the experiment but changed the angle between the mirrors in the process, he could observe 3 images.
a. How many images will Ria observe?
b. At what angle did Rohan align the two mirrors?

Two mirrors are inclined at an angle 60, an object is placed asymmetrically between them.
Then number of images formed will be
If the image of an object is viewed in two plane mirrors that are inclined to each other more than one image is formed. The number of images depends on the angle between the two mirrors.
The number of images formed in two plane mirrors inclined at an angle A to each other is given by the formula below for the different cases:
Case(1) : If (360/A) =Even then,
Number of images =(360/A)−1
Case(2) : If (360/A) =Odd,
(1) If mirrors are placed symmetrically then,
Number of images =(360/A)−1
(2) If mirrors are placed unsymmetrically then,
Number of images =(360/A)
Here, angle of inclination =60
0
So, (360/A) =(360/60)=6 [Which is even]
Hence, The no. of images will be =(360/A)−1
Substituting A as 60
0
in the formula (360/60)−1=6−1=5
