Explanation:

The state government had set a target of increasing rice productivity by 500 kg/hectare through new varieties of seeds introduced as part of the second green revolution in the East, Chatterjee said. Average rice productivity in West Bengal stands at about 2,500 kg/hectare.

Answer:

Rice grows well in west Bengal because west Bengal has favorable climate for the growth of rice. Rice needs more amount of water and loamy soil which is available in west Bengal. But in Rajasthan the soil is clayey and it is hot and dry as in desert.
