→ Rice : It is staple food crop of a majority of the people in India . This is kharif crop requires high temperature and high humidity .It is grown in areas of heavy rainfall .

→ Wheat : This is the second most imp staple food crop in India. It requires a cool growing season and bright sunshine at the time of ripening and 50 - 70 cm of annual rainfall evenly distributed over the growing season .The two imp wheat growing zones in country are Ganga - Satlej plains in northe - west and the black soil region of the Deccan .

→ Millets (coarse grains) : Jowar , bajra and ragi are the imp millets grown in India . These are also known as coarse grains have very high nutritional value .
1) Bajra (pearl millet)
2) Ragi (finger millet )
3) Maize
