Richter scale is used to measure the size of an earthquake ( In Richter scale magnitude is found on the basis of amount of ground shaking). It gives a quantitative value (1, 2.1 , 3, 4 etc.) But here the size magnitude ML =2 earthquake is not twice than that of ML=1 .

Answer:
Ritchter scale is a device which is used to measure the intensity of an earthquake. On this scale the vibration of an earthquake with a magnitude of 2 are 10 times greater in amplitude than those of an earthquake with magnitude of 1, this is the reason, why the Ritchter scale is not considered asca linear scale.
hope it is help to u
