Answer:

The answer is 19000

Step-by-step explanation:

Given, Ricky's and Sally's incomes are in a 2:3 ratio

Let, Ricky's income is 2x

Sally's income is 3x

After increased the income Ricky's income is 2x+2000 and Sally's income is 3x+2000

Given the new ratio of their income is 40:57

Therefore, (2x+2000):(3x+2000)=40:57

⇒ (2x+2000)/(3x+2000)=40/57

⇒ 114x+114000=120x+80000

⇒ 120x-114x = 114000-80000

⇒ 6x = 34000

⇒ x = 34000/6  = 17000/3

∴ Sally's income=  3x+2000   = 3×(17000/3)+2000  = 17000+2000  = 19000
