Summer 2008, Turku, Finland. My mountain bike had been stolen from me about a month earlier. It's an Author Vision, with Author being a Czech brand that never really enjoyed much popularity in the Finnish market. I had filed the police report as soon as I found out and also filed a claim with my insurance company. Everything was settled and I would be receiving a new bike while only having to pay a small deductible.
Still a bit down from not being able to hit the forest trails, on this day I had just left home to go for a training ride on my road bike. As was and remains my go-to gear, I was fully kitted out in my club coloured bibs and jersey.
I was a mere 200 meters from my front door, when out of the corner of my eye I spotted a young fellow riding.. What the..? Hey! That's my bike!
