I can give hundreds of reason and arguments for this provision to you. Where was this EQUALITY when SC and ST caste people were being exploited for centuries..? Here, still are many persons who would like to employ higher caste people over lower caste, that's why they needs some special provisions. But when government becomes even a slightly benefitial on lower classes some genius minds starts talking about equality ?!

Now, let's get to the topic.

In past years, lower caste people has faced historical criticism. And ofcourse, this would not be fair enough if such classes would have to compete with good sections of the population. I believe in karma, what goes around comes back around. Thus, government had to make such special special provisions and reservations for them even in the presence of equality acts.

It is our successive governments that are reimposing their laws and acts for caste system every decade. Socio-economic justice is one of our ideals, but at the same time equitable justice is also one of our ideals.

  • The latest being the 95th Amendment Act which extended reservations until 2020.

Let's understand this with Example:-

One may ask why income tax is not equally applicable to everyone in every state, even when the constitution gives the right to equality. One can draw similar analogy with reservation policy and provisions. This is because people are not placed equally or we can say that people aren't socially and economically equal. One can have low annual income, and one can have high income.

According to me, equity is greater than equality. So that government's equality acts aren't enough for lower castes to get a specific respective position in India.
