I guess the Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) can be used to show such an experiment.

Although plants require carbon dioxide to produce carbohydrates through photosynthesis, they also use oxygen to perform respiration. When oxygen is unavailable or limited, plants can release energy from stored carbohydrates through anaerobic respiration, which takes place through fermentation in plants. So respiration may occur without water.

So to break the Glucose and grasp the CO2 we may use KOH as it can provide the hydroxide ion and K ie potassium can be used to react with the CO2 released.

rIshavQ: Although I don't think without water its possible as the respiration does occur during tye dark also but still they need water from the roots.
