Indian corporates are bullish on the Indian athletes and are backing the country’s largest ever Olympic contingent with their money and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) general secretary said nine corporate sponsors have already pledged `10 crore while talks are on with a few others for sponsorship deals. Rio Olympics is more than a month away but the Indian IOA has roped in nine sponsors, said Rajeev Mehta, secretary general of the association.
Neerav Tomar, CEO of IOS Sports & Entertainment, told ET. Among the advertisers are — financial services group Edelweiss, which has come as the principal sponsor, Li-Ning (apparel), Amul (dairy), Tata Salt and Herbalife (nutrition). Tomar said that a formal clothing partner, a telecom company, an Indian university and another FMCG company have also signed up.
