There were 6 sultans in slave dynasty .
Qutb-ud-din Aibak - The first ruler of this dynasty was Qutb-ud-din Aibak.Muhammad Ghori had left him in charge of territories that he conquered in India . After Ghori's death he began to rule as an independent ruler .Qutb-ud din Aibak was kind hearted and generous man .He was called lakh-baksh or giver of lakhs because he gave away a lot of wealth as charity .
Shams-ud-din Iltutmish - Qutb-ud-din was succeeded by Iltutmish .He is considered the real founder of the sultanate . Iltutmish faced many problems but dealt with them strongly .He put down the rebellions within the empire.He also protected the north-west frontiers of the sultanate against possible mongol invasions.In east he expanded his empire upto Bengal.
Rukh-nud-din Firoz Shah - He was one of the son of Iltutmish . He spent his time himself enjoying ,paying a little attention to administering the sultanate .With the support of people , Raziya became the next ruler .
Raziya Sultan - She was the daughter of Iltutmish .The nobles hated her because they did not like taking orders from a women .They did not like Raziya for taking decisions without consulting them . They plotted and deposed her in 1240 ,soon afterwards she died .
Nasir-ud-din Mahmud - After the death of Raziya ,many kings came to throne .One of them was Nasir-ud-din Mahmud ,another son of Iltutmish .He was a puppet in the hands of powerful nobles .
Ghiyas-ud-din Balban - He was the most powerful ruler of this dynasty . He had been an important noble since the reign of Iltutmish and was the real power behind Nasir-ud-din Mahmud .Balban re-organized and strengthened the army.He fought against many local rulers and defeated many of them .He also guarded the north werstern borders against mongol raids .Balban wanted people to look up to the sultan . He introduced the Persian customs of Sijdah and Zaminbos or Paibos .People were against this as they felt such customs were reserved for god alone .Balbans successors were weak . In 1290 , the Khalji nobles captured the throne of Delhi .
