Explanation:
- Every year over 1,00,000 square kilometers of the area is deforested. This destroys the natural habitat of wild animals making them extinct and causing them to migrate to cities, towns, etc. Here they die of hunger. Fisheries are also greatly affected due to limited water reservoirs.
- About 6,00,000 African elephants are left. According to a census in 1972, This number was around 2 million. Ivory poaching is one of the main reasons why this graceful animal is now fighting for its survival.
- Similarly, the number of whales is also reduced.
- Our waste from fashion garments or daily use items like bottles, skin creams, bath salts, etc is thrown into oceans polluting it and affecting marine life.
