At first, he travels for 20 mins or 1/3 hr at 30 km/hr

So, distance traveled is = speed x time

d1 = 30 x 1/3

d1 = 10 km

After, he travels for 30mins or 1/2 hr at 50 km/hr

d2 = 50 x 1/2

d2 = 25 km

After, he travels for 1 hr at 50 km/hr

d3 = 50 x 1

d3 = 50 km

Finally, he travels for 1 hr at 60 km/hr

d4 = 60 x 1

d4 = 60 km

Avg speed = Total dist / total time

Total dist d = d1 + d2 + d3 + d4

d = 10 + 25 + 50 + 60

d = 145 km

Total time = 1/3 + 1/2 + 1 + 1

= 2/6 + 3/6 + 6/6 + 6/6

= 17/6 hr

Avg speed = 145 / (17/6)

= 145 * 6 / 17

= 51.18 km/hr

d = 145 km

Total time = 1/3 + 1/2 + 1+1

= 2/6 + 3/6 + 6/6 + 6/6

= 17/6 hr

Avg speed = 145 / (17/6)

= 145 * 6/ 17

= 51.18 km/hr
