RISING ABOVE TERROR SUMMARY- this story is about a family of service officer who travel from different place due to the transfer and this time they have come to Kashmir and children were very adventurous they were the valley but soon the peace of the valley slipped and the schools were closed at a stretch offices marketplaces had shut down without warning and curfew was declared the family of the service officers had become the soft targets for the terrorist .the narrator's mother's identity was not a secret in locality and she felt she was constantly being watched and thus remained in fear .she had a feeling as if something bad would happen and it did .one night the narrator's mother heard some strange noises around the house and then she tiptoed to the window and saw few men gathered around their house she frozed but then gathered her strength and ran towards the the landlord's floor. narrators mother had three children and all were crying. the landlord Zafar uncle and shahina aunty were the only ray of hope at that time the narrator prayed and his prayers were answered. within a moment the door was open and the landlord shahina aunty let them in.the narrator and his family thought that if Zafar uncle and shahina aunty had hesitated fearing of their own safety then what would have happened. after some time mother gained some strength and looked out of the window and saw those terrorist hunting for the family but after a few discussion they left cause they did not find the narrator and his family. then the narrator learnt from the story acts of kindness transcend cast creed or borders.
