Mahanadi is one of the most biggest rivers in East India.

The world famous Hirakud Dam has been built along Mahanadi river, which now originates from the new state Chattisgarh and ends up in Orissa state.

Water from river Mahanadi has been a political issue since many years. Presently both states have agreed to proportionate sharing of Mahanadi water.

Mahanadi River now originates from the new state of Chhattisgarh (earlier a part of MP) and ends up in Orissa state .

'Mahanadi River' is major river in "East Central India". The river originates from the state of Chhattisgarh and travel through the state of Orissa.

Mahanadi River originates from the Dhamtari district (where it gets formed by many mountain streams) of the state of Chhattisgarh and flows in northerly direction and drains at Raipur.

After that the Mahanadi river flows 'eastward' which is joined by 'Hasdeo' and 'Jonk' rivers and then reaches Orissa.
