To Find :

• Present Age of Rita and Latha .

Solution :

As Given that Rita age now is thrice the age of Latha . So ,

$\longmapsto\tt{Rita's\:Age=3x}$

Before 8 years :

$\longmapsto\tt{Age\:of\:Latha=x-8}$

$\longmapsto\tt{Age\:of\:Rita=3x-8}$

A.T.Q :

$\longmapsto\tt{3x-8=4(x-8)}$

$\longmapsto\tt{3x-8=4x-32}$

$\longmapsto\tt{3x-4x=-32+8}$

$\longmapsto\tt{-x=-24}$

$\longmapsto\tt\bf{x=24}$

Therefore :

$\longmapsto\tt{Present\:Age\:of\:Latha=x}$

$\longmapsto\tt\bf{24\:yrs}$

To Find :-

Find their present ages.​

Solution :-

Let

Age of Rita = x

Age of Latha = y

x = 3y (i)

8 years ago

Age of Rita = (x - 8)

Age of Latha = (y - 8)

(x - 8) = 4(y - 8)

x - 8 = 4y - 32

x - 4y = -32 + 8

Using 1

3y - 4y = -24

-y = -24

y = 24

x = 3y

x = 3(24)

x = 72 years

Hence

Age of Rita = x = 72 years

Age of Latha = y = 24 years
