• Present Age of Latha = x years

• Age of Latha = (x - 8) years

$3\text x - 8 = 4(\text x - 8)$

$:\longmapsto3\text x - 8 = 4\text x - 32$

To Find :-

Present age

Solution :-

Let the present age of Latha be a

Age of Rita = 3a

Eight years ago

3a - 8 = 4(a - 8)

3a - 8 = (4 × a) - (4 × 8)

3a - 8 = 4a - 32

32 - 8 = 4a - 3a

24 = 4a - 3a

24 = a

Therefore

Age of Latha = a = 24 years

Age of Rita = 3a = 3(24) = 72 years
