The answer is 2 km

GIVEN

Rita drives to the north of her place of stay and after travelling 25 km, finds that she has driven in the wrong direction. She

then turns to her right and travels 2 km and then she again turns to the right and drives straight another 25 km.

TO FIND

How much distance has she now to cover to go back to the starting point?

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

Let the starting point of Rita be, O

Distance travelled in North direction, OA = 25 km

Distance travelled in after right turn, AB = 2 km

Distance travelled after taking right turn, BC = 25 km

The distance remaining to go back to the starting point = Distance between Initial and final position.

This distance will be equal to CO

CO = AB = 2 km

Hence, The answer is 2 km
