Answer:

Statement of the given problem,

Rita has 100 rupee notes and 50 rupee notes. total sum of money she has is ₹7000. The ratio of 100 rupee notes to 50 rupee notes is 5:4. How many notes of each type does she have?

Let N100 & N50 denote the number of 100 & 50 rupee notes respectively.

Hence from above data we get following relations,

100*N100 + 50*N50 = 7000 …… (1a)

N100/N50 = 5/4 …… (1b)

From (1b) we get,

N50 = (4/5)*N100 …… (1c)

or N100 = (5/4)*N50 …… (1d)

From (1a) & (1c) we get,

100*N100 + 50*(4/5)*N100 = 7000 or N100 =7000/140 = 50 [Ans]

From (1a) & (1d) we get,

100*(5/4)*N50+ 50*N50 = 7000 or N50 =7000/175 = 40 [Ans]
