Answer:

Let Smitha’s present age be S and her mother’s present age, M.

M = 34 …(1)

M+2 = 4(S+2) …(2), or

M+2 = 4S + 8, or

4S = M-6 = 34–6 = 28, so S = 28/4 = 7 years.

Smitha is 7 years old, at present.

SoluTion :-

Assume

Rita's present age = 'a'

Her mother’s present age = 'm'.

\sf {m = 34....(1)}\\\\\\\sf {m=+2 = 4(a+2)....(2)}\\\\\\\sf {m+2 = 4a + 8}\\\\\\\sf {4a = M-6}\\\\\\\sf {=34-6}\\\\\\\sf {=28}\\\\\\\sf {Value\ of\ a = \frac{28}{4}=7 }

∴ Rita's present age = 7 years
