Given :- Rita starts walking towards east and stops after 35 meters (m), and turns right. She walks another 15m and then stops.

To Find :- What is the minimum distance Rita has to walk to reach to her starting point ?

A) 25m

B) 20m

C) 30m

D) None of the given options.

Solution :-

from image let Rita starts from point A and walks towards east and after 35 m stops at point B .

So,

→ AB = 35 m

now, from point B she turns right and walks another 15 m and stops at point C .

So,

→ BC = 15 m .

then,

→ Minimum distance from starting point A to finish point C = AC

now, in right angled ∆ABC right angle at B we have,

→ AC = √(AB² + BC²) { By pythagoras theorem }

→ AC = √(35² + 15²)

→ AC = √(1225 + 225)

→ AC = √(1450)

→ AC ≈ 38 m (Ans.)

therefore, the minimum distance Rita has to walk to reach to her starting point is equal to 38 m .

Hence, Option (D) none of the given options is correct answer .
