Ritu is now four times as old as his brother raju. in 4 years time, her age will be twice of raju's age. what are their percentage age

Let the present age of Raju be y

After 4 years,

$x + 4 = 2(y + 4) \\ \\ = > x + 4 = 2y + 8 \\ \\ x - 2y = 8$

Now,

$4y - 2y = 4 \\ \\ = > 2y = 4 \\ \\ = > y = \frac{4}{2} \\ \\ = > y = 2$

Therefore x = 4y = 4×2 = 8 years

Age of Ritu = 8 years

Age of Raju = 2 years

According to the question we know that Ritu is 4 time old as his brother raju so p = 4q.... (1)

Then, if we let the present age of ritu is p and raju age is q

so after 4 years = p+4 = 2(q+4)

= p+4 = 2q+8

= p -2q = 4.........(2)

Now, we can put the value of p in second equation

4q -2q = 4

q = 2 years

Therefore p = 4×2 = 8

So, The age of ritu is 8 years and the age of raju is 2 years
