x=4y

=>(x+4)=2(y+4)
=>x+4=2y+8
=>4y+4=2y+8
=>4y-2y=8-4
=>2y=4
=>y=4/2
=>y=2

putting y=2 in case 1
=> x=4×2
=> x=8

therefore, ritu' age is 8yrs and her brother's age is 2 yrs
