After the conquest of Persia by the Arabs and Turks, the attention of these rulers shifted to India in the 11th century. Prior to this, some Muslim rulers had conquered or ruled some areas of North India, but their dominance and reign was not much. Although the Arab people had established their trade relations with many areas of South India, especially Kerala through the Arabian Sea, many centuries before this, cultural exchange between these two regions was very less.
