Riya brought a male and a female dog from a cold city in Switzerland to her home in Delhi. During summers the dog appeared very tired and Riya had to occasionally switch on the AC. The dogs were allowed to reproduce and Riya observed that few 3rd generation dogs were very comfortable in Delhi summer.

(i)How can you explain the adaptability of the dogs to Delhi summer?
(ii)How did Riya help the dog to adapt to the changed environment? What value does the act convey?
(iii)What will happen if the 3rd generation dogs were shifted to Switzerland again?

Answer:

Genetic variations in their DNA has made the 3rd generation dogs adapt to Delhi summers

Riya is affectionate and allowed dogs to be in AC that would replicate Switzerland climate

If the 3rd generation dogs are shifted to Switzerland again, they would suffer winters in the similar manner as their ancestors suffered Delhi summers
