A red litmus paper turns blue when a base is dropped on it but remains same if an acid is dropped on it.

whereas

A blue litmus paper turns red when acid is dropped on it but remains same with bases.

In the first picture the blue litmus paper turns red when dipped in the solution, hence solution 'A' is hydrochloric acid.

In the second picture the red litmus paper turns blue when dipped in the second solution, hence solution 'B' is a base that is soap solution.

Glad to see you again!
