Answer:-

Given:

Riya runs around a square field of side 85 m and Ajay runs around a rectangular field of length 180 m and breadth 110 m.

We have to find:

Who covers more distance and by how much.

Distance covered is nothing but the perimeter of the square/rectangular field.

Hence,

Distance covered by Riya = perimeter of the square field

We know that,

Perimeter of a square = 4 * length of any side.

Hence,

Distance covered by Riya = 4*85

→ Distance covered by Riya = 340 m

Similarly,

Distance covered by Ajay = Perimeter of the rectangular field

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2(length + breadth).

→ Distance covered by Ajay = 2(180 + 110)

→ Distance covered by Ajay = 2(290)

→ Distance covered by Ajay = 580 m

On comparing the distances covered by both , we can say that Ajay covered more distance.

Now,

Difference between the distances covered = 580 m - 340 m

→ Difference between the distances covered = 240 m

Hence, Ajay covered more distance than Riya by 240 m.

answer:

perimeter of square= 4 *85 =340

340 m

perimeter of rectangle = 180 + 110 divide by 2

290 divide by 2

=145 m

=riya  runs more than ajay by =340 - 145 = 95 m
