Since there are two or more lanes for a highway or an expressway they provide aesthatic value to the people driving. They also reduce the pollution of the vehicles during day by absorption.

They act as an obstruction to the light beacons from the other side of the lane( This helps in preventing Accidents).

road side soil is acidic in nature which is not preferred by max vegetation furthermore due to the pollutants these plants find it hard to survive

and they do not get the optimum amount of water as there is hardly any one to nurture them
