Subject: Problem of road side vendors
Sir
I wish to provide some information regarding the roadside teashops, vegetable shops, petty shops and fruit shops dotting the roads in Trilokpuri , particularly in extension areas are causing problems to road users. Though the MCD a few years ago took a serious note of these roadside vendors and demolished all their temporary sheds and shops , vendors are again resurfacing and pitching their tents before slowly converting them into permanent structures.Modus operandi of these vendors is first they start their business by sitting on roadside vacant spaces without any shelter on their heads. Slowly they convert these working places into shops by pitching temporary tents with polythene sheets covered over their heads. It leads to traffic jams and there is no space in the bylanes also for the pedestrians to walk. One of the ways to get rid of the problem is to allocate them to some open, empty space nearby to put up the stalls.Government can also provide employment to these vendors to avoid this issue.
