Hey mate,

First thing you have to know: Robespierre was a revolutionist of the French Revolution, and was the leader of radical revolutionaries, the Jacobins.

I don’t know much, but one thing I know is that Robespierre ruled by creating fear. During this period of time, anyone who was suspected of not supporting the revolution were rounded up. Then, without so much as a trial, these people would be executed, quickly beheaded by a machine called the guillotine, where you would be strapped down, the executioner pulls the rope, and a sharp blade falls down right on your neck. (It’s at least better than hanging, where you choke painfully before dying, but still!)

During that period, everyone had to speak very carefully, because the slightest mistake or misunderstanding, e.g. doing things that were only done before the revolution, could bring you to the guillotine. People lived in terror of execution. 16594 people all over France were executed in that period of time.

But as we often say, you reap what you sow. In 1794, the 28th of July, Robespierre(full name Maximilien François Marie Isidore de Robespierre)himself was arrested and executed, beheaded by the guillotine (how very ironic). That marked the end of the Reign of Terror.

Hope it is helpful..
