Let his fathers age be x
Robin's age will be x-25 yrs

After 10 yrs,
x+10=2(x-15)
x+10=2x-30
10+30=2x-x
x=40

Thus,
Robin's age =(x-25) =(40-25) =15yrs
His father's age =x =40yrs

Given that:

  • Robin is 25 years younger than his father.
  • After 10 years, their ages will be in the ratio 1 : 2.

To Find:

  • Their present ages.

Let us assume:

  • Robin's age = x years
  • Robin's father age = (x + 25) years

Ages after 10 years.

  • Robin's age = (x + 10) years
  • Robin's father age = (x + 25 + 10) years

Finding their ages:

According to the question.

→ (x + 10) / (x + 25 + 10) = 1 / 2

→ 2(x + 10) = 1(x + 25 + 10)

→ 2x + 20 = x + 35

→ 2x - x = 35 - 20

→ x = 15

Their present ages are:

  • Robin's age = x = 15 years
  • Robin's father age = (x + 25) = (15 + 25) = 40 years
