Rohan explains his brother about short circuiting. His
brother is confused about the reason behind its occurrence.
Can you tell, when does short circuiting occur? Also tell that,
why is a spark produced at the place of short circuit and
why is the spark of white colour?

Explanation:

huge voltage, and an open connection. No current will flow through the circuit. Some say R = infinte for an open circuit. But it is not. There will be a finite R, but very large, that blocks all the current from flowing. Here resistance acts like a dam that stops the water from flowing.

When we make the open contacts closer, the resistance R will decrease. And when we continue this process very slowly, the R will decrease slowly and at a particular point, you can observe a sudden spark.(now the resistance is not sufficient enough to block the current from flowing). If we continue the process, the contacts now become short and the resistance will become 0. The effect can observed in contact switches(when we turn ON/OFF something) and are used in .

The effect is also used by students in science exhibitions.
