Rohan was asked by his chemistry teacher to prove that Iron and Sulphur powder upon heating forms a new compound. For this, he mixed and crushed iron filings and sulphur powder. He heated this mixture in a test tube strongly till red hot. He removed the test tube from flame and let the mixture cool. He used Sulphuric acid, Lead acetate and Copper sulphate in his experiment. Answer the following question based on the experiment he performed (i) Write the balanced chemical reaction between Iron and Sulphur powder.

A mixture is made when you combine matter in a way where the components can be separated again. A compound results from a chemical reaction between components, forming a new substance. For example, you can combine iron filings with sulfur to form a mixture. All it takes is a magnet to separate the iron from the sulfur. On the other hand, if you heat the iron and sulfur, you form iron sulfide, which is a compound.
