• Mother is 26 years old than Rohan .

y = 26 + x ....... ( i )

• Product of their age after 3 years from now will be 360

After 3 years their age will be :-

The age of Rohan will be :- ( x + 3 )
the age of his mother will be :- ( y + 3 )

( x + 3 ) ( y + 3 ) = 360

xy + 3x + 3y + 9 = 360

xy + 3x + 3y = 360 - 9

xy + 3x + 3y = 351 .... ( ii )


Putting value of y from ( i ) in ( ii )

x ( 26 + x ) + 3x + 3 ( 26 + x ) = 351

26x + x² + 3x + 78 + 3x = 351

x² + 32x + 78 - 351 = 0


x² + 32x - 273 = 0

x² + 39x - 7x - 273 = 0

x ( x + 39 ) - 7 ( x + 39 ) = 0

( x + 39 ) ( x - 7 ) = 0


• ( x + 39 ) = 0

x = ( - 39 )

[ neglected bCoz age can't be negative ]


• ( x - 7 ) = 0

x = 7


So, the present age of Rohan is 7 years !!
