Given : every last paintings area doubled the smaller painting's area.

Area of all painting = Area of the Clock

the small sized painting(3rd painting) has area 9 cm²,

To Find : area of the large sized painting(1st painting)

Area of the Clock

Solution:

third painting's area   = 9 cm²

2nd painting's  area = 2 x9 = 18 cm²

1st paintings area    = 2 x 18 = 36 cm²

Total area of All painting = 9 + 18 + 36  =  63 cm²

area of the large sized painting = 36 cm²
