Answer:

Given:-

Rohit purchased 12 shirts from a shopkeeper, each of ₹400 \ \frac{1}{30} and returned 6 trousers each of cost ₹500 \ \frac{1}{8} , find who is supposed to pay whom and how much ?

To Find:-

Who is supposed to pay whom and how much

Note:-

First, we should find how shopkeeper gain money from rohit by making 1 shirts cost to 12 shirts and how much rohit gains from money shopkeeper by making 1 trouser cost to 6 trouser cost.

Mixed fraction should be changed to improper fraction during calculations.

Then we compare the value and the value which is greater, will be subtracted to the lower value.

Solution:-

[ First shopkeeper gains ]

Rohit purchased = 12 shirts

1 shirt =  ₹400 \ \frac{1}{30} , 12 shirts = ?

According to note first, second point and we know that~

▪︎ 1 shirt = ₹400 \ \frac{1}{30}

▪︎ 12 shirts = \frac{₹12,001}{30} × 12

After doing half calculations~

▪︎ 12 shirts = \frac{₹12,001}{5} × 2

After doing whole calculations~

▪︎ 12 shirts = \frac{₹24,002}{5}

Again the number will change to mixed fraction~

▪︎ 12 shirts = ₹4800 \ \frac{2}{5}

[ Now, Rohit gains from shopkeeper ]

Returned trouser = 6

1 trouser =  ₹500 \ \frac{1}{8} , 6 trouser = ?

According to note first, second point and we know that~

▪︎ 1 trouser = ₹500 \ \frac{1}{8}

▪︎ 6 trousers = \frac{₹4,001}{8} × 6

After doing calculations~

▪︎ 6 trousers = \frac{₹12,003}{4}

Mixed fraction~

▪︎ 6 trousers = ₹3000 \ \frac{3}{4}

[ Now, let's compare ]

According to note third point~

▪︎ 12 shirts ( shopkeeper ) \ \ □ \ \ 6 trousers ( Rohit )

▪︎  ₹4800 \ \frac{2}{5} \ \ □ \ \ ₹3000 \ \frac{3}{4}

▪︎ \frac{₹24,002}{5} \ \ □ \ \ \frac{₹12,003}{4}

L.C.M is = 20

▪︎ \frac{₹24,002}{5} × \frac{4}{4} \ \ □ \ \ \frac{₹12,003}{4} × \frac{5}{5}

▪︎ \frac{₹96,008}{20} \ \ > \ \ \frac{₹60,015}{20}

So rohit is supposed to pay shopkeeper, by how much = ?, so~

▪︎ \frac{₹96,008}{20} - \frac{₹60,015}{20}

▪︎ \frac{₹35,993}{20}

Mixed fraction and decimal~

▪︎ ₹1,799 \ \frac{13}{20} and  ₹1799.65

Answer:-

Hence, Rohit is supposed to pay shopkeeper by ₹1,799 \ \frac{13}{20} or ₹1799.65
