Teen Crimes Stun City!
The last few months have witnessed a spate of crimes committed by school children, including thefts and kidnappings.
The recent cases have revealed that it’s either greed or uncontrollable anger/frustration that leads to crimes.
The driving thought that some youngsters today have is, ‘If he has it, why can’t I?’, for others, ‘it’s to maintain
lifestyle or just to show off,’ avers Nihal Nair (13 years) of Victoria High School. Anger has engulfed teenagers. I’- There is a lot of frustration because of unrealistic parental expectations and societal demands as well.

Sub: Increasing crime among teenagers
Sir :
I am writing to your esteemed self to express my deep concern over the increasing crime among teenagers, especially school children. The incidents of thefts, kidnapping, jewellery and purse snatching, mobile snatching, eve-teasing are on the increase. The greed to possess material luxuries is driving them crazy. These crimes are the fallout of their unregulated and unmonitored overexposure to the internet.
It really pains to see young children being caught by police. Quite ironically, they belong to families with respectable background. Being elders it is our moral responsibility to prevent the youngsters from going astray. This is nothing but the effect of their exposure to violence on TV and internet. Anger has engulfed them. There is a lot of frustration because of unrealistic parental expectations and societal demands as well.
The schools, the parents, and the government must come together to solve this problem. I have decided to bring the attention of the concerned authorities to the problem through the medium of your esteemed newspaper. I am hopeful that you will help me in sensitizing the concerned authorities, people and organizations by publishing this letter in your reputed daily.
