role conflict v/s role stereotype in sociology
Answers
ROLE CONFLICT:-
Role conflict occurs when there are incompatible demands placed upon a person relating to their job or position. Conflict among the roles begins because of the human desire to reach success, and because of the pressure put on an individual by two imposing and incompatible demands competing against each other.
ROLE STEREOTYPE:-
In social psychology, a stereotype is an over-generalized belief about a particular category of people. It is an expectation that people might have about every person of a particular group.Social roles and status are not fixed. People do make efforts to change the role and status (even ascribed status) assigned to them by society. For example, Dalits have been opposing the low status assigned to them on the basis of caste.
