Role of all india radio in development of rural india
Answers
Answer:
Radio broadcasting when skillfully used, has proved to be most effective medium of communication. Radio is not a self-sufficient medium, but when it is coupled with group reception and discussion, when it is assisted by a two-way channel of communication through the written word and when it is systematically built into an overall plan for rural development, it can be a major factor in the changes so vitally called for the modern age. Radio can be used simply and cheaply to reach remote regions and for communication in the many vernacular-often unwritten-languages existing in developing countries. Virtually all nations have a definite capability to create radio programmes in line with their political wants, cultural designs and basic morals. In India more than 80% of the people live in some 55,000 villages. Many of the villages are physically and mentally isolated. A large part of India has still to be effectively linked by roads. More than 75% of adult population is illiterate. All India Radio today broadcasts rural programmes in all languages and about 50 dialects for nearly 30 hours a day.
