Biotechnology has helped in the Green revolution. It has helped by causing sone dominant genetic changes in the original species of crops to make them resistant to diseases and change in climatic conditions. Resistance to aphids and other microbes is genetically engineered into the new variety of crops. Hence increasing their growth. These are hybrid crops. with resistance and good yield. But that also has resulted in the loss of original crops.
