Cell cycle checkpoints are control mechanisms in eukaryotic cells which ensure proper division of the cell.

Hy,
Cell division cycle consists of G1 phase, M phase, G2 phase, G0 phase. Check points are present to check whether all the cells entering in next phase of cell cycle are not defective, not cancerous, not deleted chromosomes, etc.
