Cholesterol, a molecule that forms a part of the cell membrane and also functions in the formation of the nerve synapse, is highly associated with better memory, better learning skills and better signal transduction. Studies have shown that cholesterol in the brain improves learning and memory and also increase synaptic plasticity which is the ability of the brain to form new connections between neurons. This is how it improves cognitive functioning in the brain.
