● Explanation -
- This process of obtaining zinc from its oxide with help of coke is called as smelting.
- Zinc oxide is reduced to zinc by heating with coke.
ZnO + C + ∆ ---> Zn + CO
- Zinc is led off as vapour which is then cooled and collected.
