The “Fluoride” has very important role in the development of tooth in general and in the development of enamel in particular.

It is incorporated in the enamel at molecular level during developmental stage and form Fluoapatite after binding with the hydroxyapatite crystals of the enamel.

The fluorapatite is more resistant to caries when compared to hydroxyapatite. Therefore, enamel becomes more resistant to dental caries.
