Plants prepare their food by the process of photosynthesis it is the process in which they make their food in the presence of carbon dioxide sunlight water and a green pigment called chlorophyll they take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen which is utilised by living organisms .. this is how the balance between oxygen and carbon dioxide is maintained in the atmosphere..
