fuse is a device that protects appliances from overloading ( caused by shortcircuting). A rated fuse has a specific wire of specific resistance in it. thus when there is excess current the wire will heat up and melt thus cutting the circuit open and protecting the other appliances connected from overloading.

An electric fuse is a safety device which limits the current flowing in an electric circuit. The main role of fuse in household are given below:

1. It is used as a protection device which donot flow the high current in the house hold.

2. It is used to prevent the damages happening due to over load or short circuit.

3. It is used to prevent the wires such as copper, silver, tin etc. which have low melting point and high resistance.

4. It is used to prevent the other electric devices when the high current flow them.
