Mazzini was one of the most important philosopher nationalist of the 19th century. He carried the torch of Italian nationalism to every corner of the state. Mazzini established Young Italy in 1831 to spread his message among Italians and to strengthen the spirit of nationalism
Garibaldi brought popular support to the cause for unification, a necessary element to the process that Cavour could not offer.
Cavour held the necessary political power to manipulate and exploit strategic situations, which made the unification possible
Like Germany, Italy too had a long past of unification as a united nation.

Giuseppe Mazzini
He was an Italian revolutionary. He was born in Genoa in 1803. He was sent into exile in 1831 at the age of 24 for attempting revolution. He founded two secret societies- Young Italy in Marseilles and Young Europe in Berne to teach young revolutionaries and encourage the feeling of nationalism in Italy.
Count Cavour
He was the chief minister of Sardania Piedmont (The only princely house under Italian speaking authority). He wasn't a revolutionist but when Mazzini failed to conduct revolution, the unification of Italy came in hands of Sardania Piedmont.
Giuseppe Garibaldi
He was a revolutionist. He came to join the secret societies made by Giuseppe Mazzini. He encouraged people and made an army of armed men called as red shirts. He joined, with his army, the Sardania Piedmont to make the revolution more powerful.
These all great personalities contributed a lot in the Italian unification.
