Media are the tools and outlets used for communication. Media is an influential source in a society. They motivate people and it can be used to spread awareness. 

Gender equality is when both men and women are considered equal and are given equal rights and fulfill equal duties/responsibilities.

Media can play an important role in gender equality in the following ways:

(i) Awareness: Media outlets can be used to spread awareness by television programs, articles and media reports. 

(ii) Discussions: Media can be used as an important tool to initiate discussions on certain topics. By promoting discussions on this topic, media can play an important role. 

(iii) Advertisement: Media can advertise social advertisements, which people can see on daily basis and learn from. 

(iv) Media Portrayal: People tend to follow what trends in the media. Media should portray gender equality which can influence others as well
