During the rule of Britishers in India, there developed two new forms of music commonly known as Classical Music and Carnatic Music. The music and the songs played a vital role in the nationalist struggle of India. Songs became an important mechanism for the Indian soldiers to express their admiration for their nation and hence music inspired them for the freedom struggle. Some prominent personalities of India began writing inspirational songs. For instance, Amar Sonar Bangla was written by Rabindra Nath Tagore, and Bankim Chandra wrote the Vande Mataram. The music of that emerged during this time, inspired people to continue their fighting for their motherland
