At the national level, the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) works as a community of scientists, businesses, professionals, and organizations that support life sciences for facilitating communications and for disseminating information within that community.

At the international level, there are many organizations that are working relevant to biotechnology. They include the - WTO, FAO, WHO, and the OIE.

These organizations are working to make Genetic engineering and Biotechnology a prime way to be of significant assistance to meet the needs of the expanding urbanized population. Also, the powerful tools of biotechnology is being used for the sustainable development of agriculture, forests, fisheries and in the food industry. When appropriately integrated with other technologies there has been higher yields on marginal production of food, agricultural products and other relevant services.
