Plants can be fertilizers in two ways:
1) When Plants die, they get decomposed into humus which acts as source of nutrition to other plants
2) The Nitrogen fixing bacteria in the root nodules of leguminous plants release lots of fixed nitrogen in the soil, which is enough to give nitrogen supply to other plants after the main plant dies.
